The Smurfit Tower
The Smurfit Tower is not usually known by its proper name (as far as we know). Mostly, we refer to it as "that funny building with part cut off", but it DOES have a real name. Anyway, the proud architects and designers of THIS skyscraper were Sheldon Schlegman, A. Epstein, and Sons International Inc. The Smurfit Tower was opened in 1984, although actual plans make it 5 stories taller. You see, the official count of floors, 41, does not include the 5 levels on the narrowest diamond portion, so we assume they are too small to use. The southeast section is cut away with a triangular part holding a public staircase to the nearby Metra train station. Its main design is a diamond shaped slope at the top, although at the bottom the sksycraper looks quite normal. You might also notice that there seems to be a crack running down the center of the tower. All these unique aspects were intended, so you don't have to worry about the 'scraper falling down on you!
